Tomato-based stew with tuna, chickpeas and veggies with fried saba bananas.

Century Tuna Pochero

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons corn oil

1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic

½ cup sliced onions

½ cup tomato sauce

4 cups chicken broth

1 cup cubed potatoes

½ cup garbanzos

1 cup fried saging na saba

½ cup baguio beans

½ cup red bell, pepper

1 cup cabbage, cut-up

1 – 184 grams Century Tuna Red Chunks in Oil, drained

Procedure:

Heat oil in a pan, sauté garlic and onions. Add tomato sauce and broth, let boil for 10 minutes. Add potatoes and garbanzos and cook until tender. Put the saba, beans, red bell pepper, cabbage and tuna in the boiling broth. Cover and cook for 3 minutes           (do not stir). Remove from fire and serve hot.

Makes 4 – 6 servings.
